Media Files ====== Justice ====== The world of Nilgiri has a system of courts to uphold some justice in the case of murder and thieves. Unfortunately, in the world of Nilgiri, imprisonment is not an option, and justice comes by death. ===== Crimes ===== When others can see the act, the game may record an injustice. Player-facing crimes include: * **Murder** — killing another person within sight of witnesses * **Filching** — stealing from someone * **Looting** — looting certain corpses improperly Witnesses matter. If nobody who can see you is present, the offense may not stick. Guards and citizens who know of a crime can react violently — cities keep battle cries for murderers, thieves, and looters. ===== Guards and cities ===== Each city (for example Midgaard, Catharsis, Tokugawa, Argoceania, Eltanin, Gont, Subterfuge, Newtonia) has guards that protect citizens and pursue known criminals inside city limits. Guards may also escort or file reports at the city's court room. If you commit crimes in front of witnesses and later walk into a guarded city, expect a fight rather than a fine or jail cell. ===== Courts ===== City courts support the verbs ''accuse'' and ''forgive'' when spoken to the appropriate judge / court mobile: * ''accuse <name>'' — bring charges based on witnessed, reported crime; a guilty finding is a sentence of death * ''forgive <name>'' — clear charges when the court can forgive <code mud> > accuse silk The judge yells, "I find Silk guilty and sentenced to death!!" > </code> (Exact wording varies by city and situation.
