====== History ====== This is a short player-facing note. It is **not** a recovered Wayback article and does not invent founding dates or chronicle events that are not documented in the current wiki and code. ===== What Nilgiri is ===== **Nilgiri the Forgotten World** is a classic-style MUD: text rooms, mobiles, items, skills and spells, and a persistent character database. Players connect with: ssh nilgiri@nilgiri.net See Connecting to Nilgiri. ===== Lineage ===== Nilgiri descends from the DikuMUD family of codebases. The live server is a Java rewrite / continuation known as **Neo-Nilgiri**. Content and systems still show Diku-era zone ideas (city guards, shopkeepers, rent, etc.) while Code Law documents the Java, H2, and Beanshell tooling used to rebuild and extend the world. * DikuMUD — lineage note * Code Law — implementation philosophy and resources * Source: github.com/nilgirian/Neo-Nilgiri ===== Design memory on this wiki ===== Fragments of intent survive as editorial pages rather than a single official timeline: * Purpose * Manifesto (design principles inferred from Game Law / Code Law) * Codex: Economy (signed Implementor note on the note / auction economy) ===== Related ===== * Game Law * Welcome
