Communicating

Communicating in Nilgiri is very important in finding out information from other people. It is the way for organizing campaigns and making new friends.

Room speech

Talk to everyone in the same room with say, or address one person in the room with sayto. Silent asides use mutter. Close-range privacy uses whisper.

> say Hello, travelers.
You say, "Hello, travelers."
> sayto silk Ready for the next hunt?
You say to Silk, "Ready for the next hunt?"
> whisper silk Meet me by the bank.
You whisper to Silk, "Meet me by the bank."
> mutter hmm
You mutter, "hmm"

Emotes and socials

Describe an action with emote. Many canned socials are available as their own verbs (for example smile, wave) via the social system.

> emote looks around the square carefully.
(You) looks around the square carefully.

Languages

Characters speak a language. Switch with speak <language> to languages your character understands. Listeners who do not know the language may not understand you.

> speak common
You are now speaking common.
>

Tell, beep, and pray

tell reaches another player who is currently playing (subject to their notell preference). beep pings a playing character. pray can send a message toward immortals or be used at certain special locations.

> tell silk Where are you?
You tell Silk, "Where are you?"
> beep silk

Zone and world channels

> yell Help at the south gate!
You yell, "Help at the south gate!"
> shout Looking for a group to Midgaard!
You shout, "Looking for a group to Midgaard!"
> gossip Anyone know a good armorer?
You gossip, "Anyone know a good armorer?"

Party communicate

communicate (often abbreviated) speaks to your current following / follower group rather than the whole room.

> communicate Stick together and search north.
