Dwarf

Dwarves are a short, stocky, muscular race that prefer the shelter of a mountain to the open air of a forest or field. Their hair is usually thick and long with long beards to match which is sometimes braided. Even the females are said to wear beards, which led to the rumor that there were no dwarf females and that the race simply sprung from the earth. Dwarves' blacksmithing and stonework is legendary and their works are highly prized by many of the other races. They are born with natural infravision which helps in mining and navigating the dark places they live. Because they live in mountain caves and mines they frequently run across orcs, goblins, ogres, trolls and giants. They have become very skilled in fighting these races. Dwarves have little respect or understanding of the use of magic other than by their priests. Or magical items other than enchanted weapons and armor. As such their use of these things, such as a scroll, wand or staff, can sometimes meet with disasterous effects. But that also have a natural racial resistance to magic spells and enchantments.
