Nilgiri the Forgotten World
Welcome to Nilgiri the Forgotten World.
Nilgiri the Forgotten World is among the oldest continuously running DikuMUDs coming online in August 1991. The proper name has always been “The Forgotten World”; early players mostly knew it by hostname nilgiri.berkeley.edu port 5000. Like most MUDs of that era, it ran on college resources: a student-assigned Sun workstation in Tilden Hall at UC Berkeley, before commercial ISPs were common. It began as a Sequent I clone and shared players with Copper from CU Boulder, Eltanin from Caltech, and its sister Sequent.
Nilgiri the Forgotten World is in the care of Robert Jeremy Bogue and Frederick Manligas Nacino. The current codebase is a DikuMUD variant written entirely by Frederick Manligas Nacino.
